Neuroscience Center of Excellence - Nicolas Bazan Laboratory

Researach at the Nicolas Bazan Laboratory seeks to further understand cellular and moleculare mechanisms of homeostasis in the brain and retina, with the goal of preventing, treating, and curing nurological conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease, stroke, and Parkinsons's.

As of March 2021, research from Dr. Bazan has been featured in 490 peer-reviewd publications.

The Tulane Brain Institute

Tulane University


Since its founding in 2016, the Tulane Brain Institute has fostered a new era of interdisciplinary collaboration in the neurosciences at Tulane. Today, there are 60 faculty members in the Institute, including scientists, engineers, and clinical researchers, working across the University to advance the understanding of the brain and brain disorders.

Tulane Brain Institute faculty currently hold $90 million in research funding from the National Institutes of Health, including a recently awarded $14 million grant from the NIH that aims to understand how estrogens and cardiometabolic health interact to impact brain aging.
