Training and Employment Resources

Employers in the Greater New Orleans region have recognized the importance of training the next generation of researchers in neurodegenerative disease research and support several training programs that train professionals for jobs in this specialty.

Doctors, researchers, and supporting staff have a variety of employment opportunities to explore in the area.

 

Training Programs

Delgado Community College

Delgado Community College offfers a number of Allied Health programs that are related to training students in diagnosing and treating neurological conditions.

Loyola University New Orleans

Loyola offers a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience, an interdisciplinary program in which students gain a broad foundation in the natural and computational sciences with the opportunity to pursue advanced coursework in one of four neuroscience-related concentrations: Biology, Physics, Psychology, and Business.

LSU Health

LSU Health's neurology residency programs provide a diverse academic and clinical training experience.

Tulane University

Tulane is a “Tier One” research University, the only tier 1 research University in the Gulf South. This means that Tulane is part of a select group of universities known for world-class research, academic excellence, an exceptional student body, and the highest levels of innovation, creativity and scholarship.

Xavier University of Louisiana

Housed in the Department of Psychology, the interdisciplinary program incorporates Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Mathematics and Psychology. Xavier Neuroscience also participates in a cooperative agreement with Tulane’s 4+1 Master’s in Neuroscience Program.

University of Holy Cross

Students at the University of Holy Cross (UHC) may choose either the A.S. or the B.S. in Neurodiagnostic Technology degree. Students receive training in the performance of EEGs, Nerve Conduction Studies and Evoked Potentials while rotating through outpatient and inpatient settings, including the ICU, long-term monitoring and surgery. UHC students have had a 100% pass rate on the national ABRET EEG and CLTM certification exams and 100% job placement or admission to graduate programs.
